What is the European Council of American Chambers of Commerce?

The European Council of American Chambers of Commerce (ECACC) is clearly the strongest and most influential trading organisation in Europe today. It represents the corporate interests of more than 17,000 European and American companies in 32 European countries, including the strongest ones such as Great Britain, Germany, France and Belgium. The ECACC’s main task is to promote business and labour relationships between the US and host countries of respective Chambers. The ECACC presents opinions of the business communities of these countries to agencies and organisations in the US and serves as a centre for information and experience exchange among member Chambers. Another important task of the ECACC is to co-operate with the EU Committee of AmCham based in Belgium whose role is to co-ordinate and manage relationships between the European Union and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in a common direction.

The ECACC was founded in 1965. Membership in the Council is voluntary. The Council is supported entirely by membership dues. In addition, all member Chambers are members of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and work closely to co-ordinate the Chamber’s policy and strategy.

   What does the EUROPEAN COUNCIL OF AMERICAN CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE do?

• Promotes commercial, financial and industrial relations between the United States and the host countries;
• Presents the views of the business community operating in the areas of the member chambers to agencies and organizations in the Unites States;
• Represents, when appropriate, the views and aims of the member's interests to representatives of host country governments and other regional intergovernmental organization.

From its inception, the ECACC has been the voice of international business in Europe. It is recognized both in Europe and the United States as a opinion-forming body actively engaged in fostering two-way trade and investment between its host countries and the United States.
