General Criteria

Membership in the American Chamber of Commerce is at the discretion of the Board of Directors, and potential members are asked to adhere to the following points and answer the questions contained below.

• Applicants for membership in AmCham Slovakia must deliver confirmation of official registration of the organization in Slovakia or abroad.

• Applicants for membership are asked to provide a brief profile or informational material(s) describing their business, including a description of activities, short history, size of the company, etc.

• Applicants for membership must provide only true and exact information to AmCham Slovakia.

• Applicants for membership must be an American, Slovak or foreign company with interest in American business orientation and/or relations and in being part of the bridge for Slovak/American business, and must be committed to free enterprise and promotion of international economic relations consistent with the purpose of the Chamber as set forth in its Statutes.

• Organizations applying for membership in AmCham Slovakia must be in good standing in the community and acceptable to the Chamber.

• Applicants for membership in AmCham Slovakia must not promote their own interests to the detriment of the Chamber and must not be disruptive to the goals of the Chamber

• Applicants shall not be established associations of companies, nor shall they conduct activities similar to those of the Chamber.

    Additional Criteria for Non-Profit membership:

• Non-Profit Organizations applying for membership in AmCham Slovakia must provide information about the sources of funding of the organization.

• Non-profit Organizations should be engaged in the furtherance of commerce and/or international trade.

• Individual/Organization applying for membership in AmCham Slovakia must be independent from political influences.

• Non-Profit organizations need to provide:
       - a list of at least 10 clients
       - a list of major projects

    Additional Criteria for Individual membership:

• Each applicant for Individual membership in AmCham Slovakia must prove that he or she is self-employed, or represents a business that is not yet listed on the Slovak Commercial register.

• Individuals applying for membership in AmCham Slovakia must be independent from political influences.

• The fee for an Individual Member is valid only until the end of the calendar year. The applicant agrees to apply as a Corporate member in the following calendar year or may choose to remain in the Individual member category, but will be charged the same membership fee as if a Corporate Active member.

• Applicants for Individual membership must provide an outline of their business interests and intentions.

• Applicants for Individual membership must respond to the following questions:
       - Why are you joining AmCham Slovakia?
       - What do you expect from membership in AmCham Slovakia?
       - What would be your contribution to AmCham Slovakia?

Every applicant for membership must submit a 100 word outline of their business activities!
