English Speaking Theatre for AmCham Members!

There were times when students of English language or foreigners living in Bratislava and its surroundings, who wanted to see an English speaking theatre, had to travel some 80 km to nearby Vienna or even fly to London. The situation changed four years ago, when the teachers at the Bridge - English Language Centre in Bratislava founded their own theatre Bridgin'Drama. Moreover, now the Theatre Bridgin'Drama brings to Pezinok its own festival of English speaking theatres!

Bridgin'V4, sponsored by the Visegrad fund, will host theatres from V4 countries (Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary), plus special guests from Austria. The partners of the festival are American Chamber of Commerce, Czech Centre, Polish Institute, town Pezinok and company Tuli.

AmCham Members are invited to attend free of charge any of the two performances in Culture House in Pezinok:

Thursday, October 15@7PM: Bridgin'Drama of Bratislava – Kukucheers, opening performance, a humorous adaptation of the classic story Rysavá jalovica by Martin Kukučín, Slovak novelist and playwright of late 19th century and early 20th century. Adapted and interpreted by theatre Bridgin'Drama, this piece of Slovak classic changes into sympathetic, sometimes ironic fun, using elements of folksiness and lots of allusions to the present as well as to our Slovak “maladies”, including alcoholism.

Friday, October 16@7PM: Open House Theatre, Vienna – Hedda, a play performed by the ensemble from Vienna and inspired by the homonymous tragedy by Henrik Ibsen, famous playwright of Norway.
