EY in Slovakia has three new partners

The advisory firm EY in Slovakia has appointed Peter Borák as a new partner. He will lead the Risk Transformation division in the Bratislava office, which represents a significant development for the company. Another important step which EY has undertaken is to appoint two additional partners on promotion – Peter Málik and Róbert Kováčik.
Peter Borák joins EY with almost 25 years’ professional experience in IT audit, IS security and management-related advisory services for businesses, government institutions and the public sector. He will lead the company’s Risk Transformation division, focusing on public sector advisory, primarily related to challenges which the Slovak Republic is to address in the given programming period. His second area of responsibility will be cybersecurity, with the aim of responding to increasingly topical concerns over organizations’ IT systems security in ever-expanding cyberspace. Peter Borák says: “Digital transformation of companies as well as the public sector, and the increasing penetration of technology which materially changes traditional business models – these are challenges for EY’s innovative spirit which I want to be part of.” During 20 years with KPMG in Slovakia, he established and led the Information Risk Management/Risk Advisory department and eventually also the Management Consulting department, both of which provided services not only in Slovakia, but also in other CEE countries.

At the same time, EY has appointed another two partners on promotion: Róbert Kováčik and Peter Málik. Róbert Kováčik has been responsible for the provision of legal services by Ernst & Young Law s.r.o. in Bratislava since January 2015. In just two years he has managed to build a law firm which applies a multidisciplinary approach to clients’ legal matters, enjoys an excellent reputation and has a strong team of 18 professionals. Thanks to their high-quality hard work, Ernst & Young Law s.r.o. has produced spectacular results, becoming the biggest law firm among the Big 4 in Slovakia. Róbert graduated from the Faculty of Law at the Comenius University in Bratislava. He has 20 years’ professional experience in providing legal advisory to major Slovak and foreign companies, mostly on commercial law, transactions, real-estate and labor law. He has been working in the Big 4 environment for more than 10 years. Peter Málik will lead EY’s IT Advisory division. He has over 23 years’ professional experience in SAP technical and functional areas, including implementation, data migration and transformation of system requests into architecture design, plus software application design. Additionally, he has broad practical experience of the provision of advisory for leading national and multinational companies from various industrial sectors. Peter graduated from the Faculty of Management Science and Applied Cybernetics at the University of Žilina.

EY has also appointed Peter Demský to the position of Executive Director of its Transaction Advisory practice. Peter has worked for EY since 2013 and currently focuses on mergers and acquisitions, capital and debt advisory as well as business valuations. In the past, he worked in the environment of financial and investment companies. Matej Bošňák, EY Country Managing Partner, perceives the acquisition of a new partner, appointment of two other partners and expansion of professional services as an important development, which will become crucial for the entire company over the forthcoming period. He comments on this shift as follows: “I very much welcome the appointment of Róbert Kováčik and Peter Málik as partners, where they may apply their considerable EY experience. At the same time, I would like to welcome Peter Borák, who comes to EY from an external environment. The expansion of our professional services shows that our firm is growing successfully and is ready to further provide services to our clients, not just of the highest quality, but also of significantly larger extent.”
