GEFCO SLOVAKIA has become a holder of the status of Authorised Economic Operator

Bratislava, 10th February 2012 – GEFCO SLOVAKIA, supplier of logistic services „Logistics for manufacturers“, has become a holder of the status of Authorised Economic Operator (AEO), type F – simplified procedures and safety.
The AEO certificate has been granted based on an executed financial, security and customs reliability audit, and came into force on the 3rd of January 2012. Based on the need of improvement of the safety in the international trade, as well as of the security in the supply chain according to the security standards of the World Customs Organization, the European Community has acceded to an amendment regarding the implementation of the status of Authorised Economic Operator.

We perceive the AEO certificate as a competitive advantage that will, together with the upcoming complete adoption of the new customs legislation within the Community (Modernised Customs Code and the Code\'s implementing regulations), provide us a significantly better assertion in the competitive environment in the field of providing of the logistics services,” said Peter Harach, Manager for Customs Department, GEFCO SLOVAKIA.

The aim of implementing of the AEO status is to secure the international trade with an easily recognizable mark of quality – the AEO certificate indicating that its holder is a secure part of an international supply chain. Each holder of the AEO certificate has been audited by the respective customs authorities and gaining the AEO certificate is a proof that its inner control mechanisms, financial health, customs procedures, physical safety of goods – from the production of goods, through their storage and transport and to their delivery – comply with the safety and/or customs requirements. Besides gaining a prestigious status, an authorised economic operator can benefit from the following advantages:
  • possibility of easier and faster obtaining of simplified customs procedures,
  • possibility of partial/full waiving of Guarantee covering a customs debt in case of a facultative Guarantee,
  • reducing controls on consignments of AEO,
  • priority consideration in the clearance,
  • less data to be declared before import/export,
  • mark of quality for business partners also beyond the EU, competitiveness, thorough revision and setting of logistic and security systems, more effective use of sources,
  • improved communication and higher rate of reliability of business partners, trustful partner in the supply chain,
  • lower rate of robberies and losses of an economic operator, lower risk during transit operations,
  • less delays of shipped goods,
  • lower risk of infraction of the customs regulations,
  • faithfulness with regard to customs procedures,
  • recognizing of the AEO certificate in all EU Member States,
  • recognizing of the AEO certificate (types AEOS and AEOF) in Japan; moreover, negotiations concerning the mutual recognition of certificates with other countries outside the EU – such as USA (C-TPAT), China, Canada, South Korea etc. – are in progress.

Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) is defined as a safe part of the supply chain, which in a course of its business is involved in activities aimed at customs regulations. AEO – the quality mark for logistics procedures granted by the Custom Authority of the Slovak Republic. The criteria are explicitly defined in the Community customs legislation and are based on the SAFE Framework of standards defined by the World Customs Organization. For the purpose of security and security of international supply chain, there are included in this process all activities from processing the goods for export, to delivering the goods to another customs territory. In the case of the European Union, this regards the goods produced outside the customs territory of the European Union, which are on this territory either imported, or are exported outside the European Union. After obtaining the AEO certificate, its holder can benefit from easer and faster access to simplified customs procedures, facilitating customs controls related to safety and security when entering the customs territory of the EU or leaving the custom territory of the EU.
