To become the FDI location of choice by 2020, and to win the FDI race,
Slovakia should carry out the 10 most important actions vital for the
successful accomplishment of this vision. One of the points is to INVEST
in EDUCATION.
“Education is at the heart of our economic future. A workforce with the relevant skills across all sectors, and one that supports innovation is a necessity. The future needs of business must be aligned with the future education our children will receive. The level of education is a key differentiator amongst competing economies for FDI; therefore a focused investment in education on the next generation FDI areas will play an essential part in securing FDI.” - The 10 steps to winning the FDI race –

| A joint initiative of AmCham and the Center for North American Studies (CNAS) of the University of Economics in Bratislava "HR in Practice", finished its first successful series of lectures. HR managers from DELL, LENOVO, SHERATON and SLOVAK TELEKOM introduced the participants to key roles HR plays in large international companies and real-life HR systems and processes with the intention to increase participants’ preparedness for working at the managerial and HR positions. Feedback from one of the student: "I think that the course was very interesting part of my studies and the only downside is that there were not more opportunities to study courses like this in previous years. In my opinion, students should be able to choose courses like HR in practice (practical knowledge presented by people from actual companies) every semester when they have to decide about optional courses. Close cooperation of university and external organizations is probably the right way for the education in the future. There are no cons for this. In the end the university reputation would be raised because it would be known as a place where majority of students can easily get access to companies on the market, where you can study in different languages and learn practical information," Vladimír Kučera, graduate student of the University of Economics in Bratislava.
