    On November 17th we celebrated the 21st anniversary of the so-called Velvet Revolution, which steered Slovakia back to the path of democracy, civic liberties, and freedom to do business. The path has been rather bumpy, however. Years of authoritarian governments reminded us in a very painful way that it is not enough to win democracy once; it has to be earned over and over again through the collective effort of all those who treasure the rule of law and respect for private ownership and loathe populism, corruption, and envy.
